Drumm and Burks are Having a Baby Tomorrow

Just a friendly reminder from your old buddy Zeke….Tomorrow is the magical day when radio geeks around the world have fun at other’s expense. April Fools day stunts have been around forever and it amazes me how many idiots still fall for them.

I remember a morning guy telling his listeners that if they didn’t want their house trashed, they had to put plastic bags over their phones because the phone company was going to blow all the dust out of the lines. That of course resulted in chaos, plastic bag shortages and almost dismissal of the morning show. Please. The saddest part is someone somewhere will do that that same bit again tomorrow.

There hasn’t been an original idea in radio ever. All of it is stolen from one place or another and 99% of it is lame. Is it really a format change to Spanish? Are Ron and Steve really going to play “all disco all the time” from now on? Again, please.

The rumor machine has been spinning like a top for weeks about the demise of Rock 103 and the birth of 98.1 The Worst Kept Secret in Memphis Radio. It should be an interesting day to say the least, but don’t believe the hype….yet. Start believing at about noon tomorrow.

You want wacky radio? Give me Drake Hall, a feeding tube and a bottle of Patron and I’ll give you wacky.

Puh-leez tell me that you will have a stream on 98.1, so us less-fortunate transplants can enjoy the best thing in Memphis via the Web.

If that's the case can I have an "F the Evil Empire" bumper sticker?
I love the Taint show... the news and weather together? Unorigianl? The Balance show was a lil weird on a jambox with no left and right speaker control. Why couldn't we have had Iron Maiden and Spandau Ballet instead of Air Supply and Wham.

Great to hear something new on Memphis radio though. Rock on!

Z- to think that you would allow these afternoon humps to act like you aren't already part, of the station("maybe we can talk these two into coming to "the Max". "We built this station for them, now we have to get them.") astounds me. Jackoff and Crotchrot in the afternoon are the epitome of every "radio DJ" joke you two ever made.

Hey Drew And Zippy, Listen to 98.1 all day, what a blast, can't wait untill you 2 dudes are back. Then Listen to the Jar.(other station)
Been listen to other Station for about 20+ years, Tired of same old songs over and over,(maybe 15 total) 98 was great, all day long I never heard same song twice.
Here's my bitch. (the other station ) still plays YOUR party at 5 songs. Think you can do the orginal ones would be great to hear them from 98.1 over 10_ 7 (other station)
Keep on Rocking CR

Hey, Zeke!

I lived in Memphis from '93 - '98 and remember listening to you on 103.

Since then, I moved back to Chattanooga (hometown), went to D.C. for three years, and moved back to the South (just outside of Atlanta) last September.

Sorry to hear 103 is crumbling under the C/C corporate thumb - bummer!

But, I'm glad I stumbled across your blog - I've b/marked it for regular reading.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND!
